FAB

On This Day In 2003, a youthful Arsenal side turned on the style to send Wolverhampton Wanderers crashing out of the Carling Cup(known as the English League Cup, but was named Carling Cup due to sponsorship reasons) with a 5-1 win at Highbury Stadium. Jeremie Aliadiere grabbed a brace, while Nwankwo Kanu, Sylvain Wiltord and Cesc Fabregas were also on target. Aged 16 years and 212 days old, Fabregas' 88th minute strike which completed the rout made him the Gunners' youngest goalscorer of all-time. Fabregas's late goal saw him break the record that had previously stood for 21 years after Stewart Robson had scored for Arsenal as an 18-year-old back in 1982. This was the Spaniard's first goal for the Gunners. In all, Fabregas spent eight years(2003-2011) with Arsenal, netting 57 goals in 303 games. He also won two trophies during his time with the club. Aged 21, he was named Arsenal captain on 24 November 2008, making him the youngest to player in the club's history to hold such position.
