MEN OF HISTORY: LAHM AND SCHWEINSTEIGER
On This Day In 2002, German youngsters(both 18 years of age) Philipp Lahm and Bastian Schweinsteiger made their professional debuts for Bayern Munich first-team in a 3-3 draw against RC Lens in the UEFA Champions League. Schweinsteiger came on in the 76th minute for Mehmet Scholl and created a goal for Markus Feulner who was subsequently substituted in the 92nd minute, allowing Lahm to make his own professional bow for the Bavarians. Philipp Lahm who will later become the club's captain went on to make 517 appearances, scoring 16 goals(21 trophies), while Schweinsteiger scored 68 goals in 500 appearances(18 trophies) for the Bavarians.
