On This Day In 2008, Emile Heskey scored an injury-time winner as Wigan Athletic edged Portsmouth 1-2 at Fratton Park. Heskey's 90th minute winner was his 100th Premier League goal in what was his 414th game in the competition. In all, Heskey played for the likes of Leicester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Wigan Athletic and Birmingham City, netting 110 goals in 516 Premier League appearances.


On This Day In 2008, Nicolas Anelka scored his first competitive hat-trick for Chelsea in a 5-0 win over Sunderland. Frank Lampard's 51st minute strike was his 100th Premier League goal(in his 406th appearance in the competition). Lampard represented West Ham, Chelsea and Manchester City in the Premier League, netting 177 goals in 609 games. He is the Premier League's highest scoring midfielder of all time.

 On this day in 2006, Arsenal's poor record at Bolton Wanderers continued as a brace from Nicolas Anelka helped consign them to defeat. Abdoulaye Faye headed Bolton ahead before team-mate Kevin Davies escaped a red card for pushing Emmanuel Eboue. Anelka powered in a 25-yard screamer against his ex-club, who then pulled one back with a Gilberto Silva header. Anelka's double was his first two goals for Bolton.
