He played for Crystal Palace between 1985 to 1991, netting 118 goals in 277 games, making him the club's third highest goalscorer of all-time.

At Arsenal(1991-1998), he was the club's top scorer for six consecutive seasons, also winning five trophies, including the 1993/1994 European Cup Winners Cup. He scored a hat-trick on his league debut the Gunners (vs Southampton), also netting the last goal of the Old English Division One(also vs Southampton). He is Arsenal's second highest goalscorer of all-time with 185 goals in 288 games. He also played for the likes Celtic Nottingham(on loan) and Burnley.

At international level, he scored 9 goals in 33 caps for England, failing to represent the Three Lions in any major tournament.

He previously worked as a part-time first-team coach at Milton Keynes Dons. He left the role in 2013.

Since retiring from Football in 2000, he has worked as a Pundit for various media outfit. He is currently a studio pundit for BBC Sport and ITV Sport.

While young, he adopted the son of his then girlfriend Sharon Phillips (Shaun, born 1981) and had another child with her (Bradley, born 1985). They both went on to become professional footballers.

Ian Edward Wright is 56 today.


He played for five clubs during his football career which lasted for 14 years.

As a manager he has managed the likes of Lorca Deportiva, Almeria, Valencia, Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla. At Sevilla gained plaudits for his style of football, and shrewdness in the transfer market alongside Monchi, the club's director of football. He achieved an unprecedented consecutive Europa League victories, which earned him a move to French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2016. In two years with PSG, he won seven trophies, including the 2017/2018 French Ligue 1 title.

After the expiry of his contract with PSG, he was appointed head coach of English club Arsenal in May 2018, following the resignation of long-serving Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger.

Unai Emery Etxegoien is 48 today.


Throughout his club career, he played for Aston Villa, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Sydney and Sunderland, mainly as a forward, between 1988 and 2009.

His greatest success at club level was as a Manchester United striker winning the unique treble of the Premier League, the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League in 1999. He also scored 66 goals in 147 games for the Red Devils.

At international level, he represented Trinidad and Tobago on 74 occasions between 1989 and 2009, scoring 19 goals. He was the assistant manager of the Trinidad and Tobago national team until the completion of the qualifying matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Notably, he scored 123 goals in the Premier League, a record for a non-European which was not broken until Sergio Agüero in 2017.

Dwight Eversley Yorke is 48 today.


He spent 15 years of his club career with Bayern Munich where he scored 563 goals in 605 games, making him the club's all-time top scorer and third most appearances. With 365 goals in 427 games, he is German Bundesliga all-time leading goalscorer.

He represented West Germany between 1966 to 1974, winning the 1974 FIFA World Cup and the 1972 European Championship. He also scored 68 goals in 62 caps for West Germany,  making him the country's second highest goalscorer of all-time.

Notably, the 1970 European Footballer of the Year winner is now 17th on the list of all time international goalscorers, despite playing fewer matches than every other player in the top 25. Among the top scorers, he has the third-highest goal-to-game ratio. He held the all-time goal-scoring record in the World Cup with 14 goals for 32 years. In 2004, Pelé named him in the FIFA 100 list of the world's greatest living players.

Gerhard "Gerd" Müller  is 74 today.
