On This Day In 2003, Argentine forward Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini(16 years, four months, and 23 days old), came on as a substitute to make his unofficial debut for FC Barcelona in a 2-0 friendly loss to José Mourinho's FC Porto. The match was held to inaugurate Porto's new stadium, Estádio do Dragão. Boasting a capacity of 50,399 and built at a cost of €98 million, the stadium was designed by architect Manuel Salgado as intended as one of the venues for the 2004 UEFA European Championship.
