  • On This Day In 2003, Francesc Fàbregas Soler made his professional debut for Arsenal, starting in a League Cup tie against Rotterdam United. In doing so, the midfielder became Arsenal's youngest-ever first team player, aged 16 years and 177 days. The Gunners went on to win 9-8 on penalties(regulation time ended 1-1). Fàbregas made 71(85 in all competitions) English Premier League assists during his eight-year stay with the Gunners, the second highest in Arsenal history (in the competition). In all, Fabregas scored 57 goals in 303 games. He was the Gunners captain from 2008(aged 21, he remains the youngest captain in Arsenal history) until his departure in 2011.
