CELEBRATING GAYLE @30

Happy Birthday to former Standsted, Dagenham & Redbridge, Peterborough United and Crystal Palace striker Dwight Devon Boyd Gayle who turns 30 today. Gayle started his career at Arsenal where he was released as a teenager, going on to make a name for himself at the English non-league clubs. He joined Crystal Palace in July 2013 for a then club record fee of £4.5 million. He scored 25 goals in 74 games for the club and was a member of the Eagles' squad who finished runners-up at 2015/2016 FA Cup, losing 2-1 to Manchester United in the final. Currently playing for Newcastle United, he finished the 2016/2017 season both as the English Championship joint-second highest goalscorer(alongside Tammy Abraham) and Newcastle United's top scorer with 23 goals in 34 games(32 in the league), making him the first Newcastle player since Alan Shearer(2003/2004 season) to score 20 league goals in a season. Gayle spent last season on loan to West Bromwich Albion where he scored 24 goals in 41 games.
